Here I am back in Morocco, this time in winter. There are 7 of us in the group, 4 men and 3 women, which is unusual because men are usually
in the minority. We will have bright sunshine throughout our stay, but we will have to weara light sweater because we are in the High Atlas
at an altitude of 1,554 meters. Jamal, our guide, told us that ithas rained heavily after a five-year drought. We land in Marrakech in the early
evening. The next day, we take a minibus to reach Boutaghrar, where we will stay at Jamal's cousin Mohamed's inn. On the way, we stop to
paint the village of Aït ben Hadou, clinging to its rocky hill. It blends in with it in its ochre colors. We arrive in
Boutaghrar on Monday evening around 6:00 p.m.
In 2023 I returned to Morocco in the Middle Atlas for a watercolor course. We were accommodated in a magnificent inn located in the village of Boutaghrar and run by a cousin family of our guide Jamal. This family was very warm and welcoming and the dishes that the women cooked for us were delicious.

In June 2023 I did a watercolor course on the Île de Ré in the small town of Ars en Ré. We were 7 people plus the teacher who had organized this trip. We stayed in the city in a magnificent and very large house with a small courtyard in the back allowing us to have our meals outside. Shopping and meals made by ourselves, taking turns. It was extremely hot in the afternoon which meant that we left around 4 p.m. to go painting.
